Well i did say i'd post the answers

Yea, here's the question and reply from my Hmmm post
------------------
Ok. Since nobody asks, I think, Tarrenger Drakenlied, you have to break the myth around furries that tv shows give to them. I was reading about it the other day, watching videos on youtube, when I got to see part of an episode of the Sex in the City series where a furry character wants to have sex with his partner dressing like animals and acting like them.
Does it really offend the Furry Community? Do you guys take it seriously? I'm not sure what to think about it, because a lot of people think in a bad way about the furry community based on what TV tells about them, and I guess, that's not fair.

Answer:
                     Just Tarren is fine ^w^ no need to use my full name. To say that it offends puts it mildly. Most furries aren't a part of the fandom just for sex. The whole furries just screw each other is a huge sterotype. There's an episode of CSI that abuses this sterotype. I've seen plenty of rants by other furries who are offended by TV shows that do this sort of thing. What's sad is that even documentaries do this. the Nat Geo show Taboo had an episode with furries. They had Psychiatrists speak about us like we were mentally damaged! Saying that we live in a fantasy. for some it is a fantasy, something to escape with. but for a lot of us it something spiritual. i myself feel that way. not something i made up, but something buried deep inside.
As for the sex sterotype, that stems from how open minded we are. we except people for who they are, race, gender, sexual orientation. it doesn't matter. often times people join the fandom to be with people who except them. of course its not perfect, and as the saying goes a few bad apple spoils the bunch. its the few that ruin things for the many.
A prefect example was a couple of years ago. a volunteer EMT organization run by a few open furries was holding a family friendly fundrasier to get new ambulences. of course many of the people attending were furries, hanging out having harmless fun in fursuits and such. when two idiots in fursuits decided to have sex on a car right out in the open! with children present at the event! needless to the the volunteers never got their new ambulances and the group was shut down. because of two idiots who couldn't control themselves a community lost something that could save lives.
if i recall the two were imprisoned and forever blacklisted by the entire furry communinty.

sorry if i got of topic, its a fragile subject and i sometimes start to rant ^w^;

  1. I think it's a good answer. It's a shame how stereotypes affect everything.

    1. indeed it is, especially when it takes just one or two people to start the sterotype, or enforce it
